Lake Buel District Board Meeting
August 17, 2022
Hassett – 168 Peter Menaker Road, New Marlborough
Members present: Chris Hassett, Mark Amstead, Wayne Dolby, Kyle Pierce, and John Halbreich. Guest: Pete Hagen.
Meeting was called to order by Chair, Mark Amstead at 6PM.
A motion was made, seconded and so voted to approve the minutes of March 14th as amended.
A motion was made, seconded and so voted to approve the minutes regarding tax – May 28th as amended.
A motion was made, seconded and so voted to approve the minutes of Annual Meeting May 28th as amended.
Water Testing/ Water Level:
The Board reviewed and discussed the most recent report.
Mr. Hassett & Mr. Amstead mentioned that the water level is low by 4 to 5 inches and downstream of the dam is lower, water is being held back.
It was mentioned that an email blast (no reply feature) was used only one (1) time sent out back in 2019 regarding sending in proxies, due to COVID. Mr. Amstead mentioned that Shannon Amidon has the email list and is ready to update the list.
Lake Health:
The Board members have noticed that the weeds are in good shape this year and the lake is clean.
New/Any Other Business:
Mr. Halbreich mentioned that a letter was sent to the Board from the New Marlborough Fire Department regarding rescue vehicles accessible around the lake.
Mr. Amstead mentioned that a questionnaire was sent to the Board from Lake & Ponds Associates (LAPA) and that the response was done the questionnaire was seeking someone who was knowledgeable about fishing.
The Board discussed the large Styrofoam that has a penguin on it that is in the lake. Mr. Hassett will ask the owners to remove it from the lake.
It was mentioned that all permits have been filed and all set for the fireworks display on September 3rd. The rain date is September 4th.
Next meeting is scheduled for December 7th 2022, 6PM at the Pierce residence – 464 Main Rd, Monterey.
